Dorothy Watkins Dorvin

September 22, 1934 ~ April 24, 2024 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Dot, affectionately known as Dee Dee to family and friends, was called by the Lord at the age of 89.  She was born on September 22, 1934, in Collingswood, New Jersey,0 to the late William M. and Frances E. Watkins.

Dot was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Deacon Edwin C. Dorvin Jr., D.D.S.  She is survived by her four children, Terry Chamberlain (Charlie), Edwin (Chuck), Dorvin, III, Mary Kay Raymond (Howie), and Lynn Corvers (Richie). She was a loving grandmother to her twelve grandchildren, Kristin Wiedemann (Andrew Thompson), Kimberly Klotz (Chris), Molly Love (Tom), Jamie Townsend (Simon), Michael Raymond, Craig Raymond (Katie), Eddie Dorvin (Lauren), Tommy Dorvin, Sarah Dorvin, Kyle Corvers (Sarah), Holly Pisciotta (Zach), Blaine Corvers (Claire).  Dee Dee was delighted to be a great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren, with another little girl on the way! She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Watkins, and her sisters, Frances Watkins, Cecile Zeitz, and Anne Ward. She is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Raymond, and some very special nieces and nephews.

She attended Ursuline College but finished at Loyola College, where she was elected homecoming queen.  After college, she was hired as the first lay teacher at Ursuline Academy. Ed and Dot had a very blessed life.  They had wonderful opportunities to travel the world with friends and family.  Dee Dee was happy to marry a soon-to-be dentist and lead the life of a wife and mother.  She faced challenges with Ed's many career changes but was delighted with his final choice of serving the Lord as a Permanent Deacon at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Metairie.  It was easy to see her deep devotion to God and the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was especially devoted to the Holy Rosary, which she said three times a day.  Her focus always remained on getting her family rooted in the Catholic faith.  She especially loved the monthly dinner and rosary she sponsored with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Throughout her life, she has been a great support to multiple local charities with her time, talent, and generosity.

We would love to thank the Anvoi Hospice staff for the loving and compassionate care giving to Dee Dee in the end.  Their service to her was invaluable, and we will be forever grateful for each and every one who cared for her. A memorial will take place on

Tuesday, April 30, at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, and the mass will be at 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, masses or donations to St. Michael Special School would be appreciated.
